2016 was our first Five Rise Beer Fest!

Brewer Beer ABV % Style Tasting Notes
Abbeydale, Sheffield Moonshine 4.3 Blonde Bitter A beautifully balanced pale straw-coloured premium bitter. Distinctive floral aroma, leading to a predominantly citrus taste, with grapefruit and lemons to the fore. A quenching bitter finish.
Absolution 5.3 IPA Mid-straw coloured beer with aromas of tropical fruit and mangoes. The beer is sweet all the way through, balanced by some bitterness at the finish. Flavours are fruity with toffee apples and bananas. A clean tasting beer, sweetish but not cloying.
Acorn, Barnsley Heart of Oak 4.5 Pale Bitter Pale straw coloured premium bitter. Slight sweet biscuit malt background with a fruity hop aroma of Apricots, Lemon and Passionfruit.
Yorkshire Pride 3.7 Golden Bitter Light golden ale with well balanced creamy malt and good bitterness. Bags full of whole hops for the aroma impart a grassy, citrus aroma.
Bad Co, Dishforth, North Yorks. Comfortably Numb 3.8 Blonde Bitter Hop-packed and a taste of sunshine, with notes of citrus and pineapple.
Dazed & Confused 5.5 Stout A dark and rich milk stout with hints of cherries, chocolate, coffee and almonds.
Brass Castle, Malton, North Yorks Snow Eater 4.8 Pale Single-hopped pale ale. Chinook hops provide punchy citrus and pine flavours – from the icy slopes of the Rockies where the warm Chinook wind is known as the ‘Snow Eater’.
Hazelnut mild 4.2 Dark Mild A luscious 5-malt nut brown mild with a delicate hazelnut aroma. With all the natural gentle coffee notes from the brown and pale chocolate malts in our mild, it seemed only appropriate to mix in a touch of hazelnut too
Bristol Beer Factory, Bristol Milk Stout 4.5 Stout Multi Award winning smooth Stout. Smooth chocolatey sweetness and balancing coffee bitterness with hints of dark fruits.
Sunrise 4.4 Blonde Bitter Golden Ale. A biscuit malt backbone followed by waves of citrus hops make for a wonderful English Golden ale.
Coniston Brewery, Coniston, Cumbria Bluebird Bitter 3.6 Blonde Bitter Juicy malt and tart hops vie for attention in the mouth while the finish is tart and hoppy but well balanced by creamy malt. The bitterness rating is a substantial 36-38. The tangy fruit lingers on the back of the tongue until it develops a hint of orange liqueur
Cloudwater, Manchester Pale 4.1 Blonde Bitter Bright, dry, and easy drinking with an assertive bitterness.
Session IPA 4.5 IPA A session strength IPA, dry hopped with Experimental 431, backed up by German Comet.
Cumbrian Legendary Ales, Cumbria Loweswater Gold 4.3 Blonde Bitter A golden ale at 4.3% made with mainly lager malt and German hops producing a tropical fruit aroma and flavour.
Esthwaite Bitter 3.8 Best Bitter A Golden bitter made with five different Malts and Cascade Hops.
Daleside, Harrogate Daleside Blonde 3.9 Blonde Bitter A refreshing, golden blonde beer. Hoppy with a hint of citrus and sherbet.
Daleside Bitter 3.7 Best Bitter Beautiful Amber / Copper colour. Light and very drinkable.
Dark Star, Sussex Partridge 4.0 Best Bitter A Best Bitter brewed in a traditional Sussex style using Maris Otter, Crystal and Chocolate malts with East Kent Golding hops. Typical of Dark Star ales, the Best Bitter relies on the heavy handed addition of aromatic hops late in the boil.
American Pale Ale (APA) 4.7 Blonde Bitter The yeast strain used for the brewing of this American style pale ale is specially imported from the USA, along with Cascade, Centennial and Chinook hops. The low colour Maris Otter malt provides a perfect light colour and dryness to complement the crisp taste and full aroma of the hops.
Dunham Massey, Altrincham Dunham East India Pale 6 IPA East India Pale Ale is a stronger IPA brewed in the traditional East India style, but using all English ingredients. Light and hoppy.
Dunham Choc Cherry Mild 3.8 Dark Mild Chocolate Cherry is a multi-award winning speciality mild. Champion Speciality Beer of Britain 2012. It has all the class of Dunham Dark, with a dry hint of cherry that cuts through the malt flavours.
Elland, W.Yorks 1872 Porter 6.5 Porter A rich, complex, dark ruby porter from an 1872 recipe. It has an old port nose, coffee and bitter chocolate flavours from four malts including finest Maris Otter and English hops
Beyond The Pale 4.2 Blonde Bitter Elland’s premium Pale Ale. Pale golden bitter brewed with finest English and German style malts for a rich flavour. Brewer’s Gold, American Cascade and Centennial hops give a strong citrus aroma and a dry pleasing finish
Welbeck Abbey Henrietta 3.8 Blonde Bitter Golden Ale packed full of wonderful hop character. Challenger hops provide the bitter note and balance perfectly with the citrus and fresh grassy nose of the Cascade and Hallertaur Brewers Gold varieties.
Ernest George 4.4 Dark Bitter Packed full of chocolate malt, black malt, and roasted barley to give a rich full body. With a bitterness from English hops, and an undertone of sweetness from crystal malt and a dark smoky character.
Hawkshead, Staveley, Cumbria Windermere Pale 3.5 Blonde Bitter A highly refreshing, very pale ale, bursting with hop character and a fine fruity aroma. Brewed with soft Lakeland water, Maris Otter malted barley and full flower hops – blending three traditional English hops and the modern American hop, Citra.
Bitter 3.7 Best Bitter A pale, hoppy and bitter ale: a slight elderflower aroma from Slovenian “Celeia” hops, followed by long bitterness. The hikers’ favourite – the perfect thirst quencher after a day on the Fells.
Hop Studio, York Porter 4.3 Porter A dark and sensual vanilla conditioned ale. Intense chocolate malt and berry flavour

Hebden Wheat 4.5 Speciality Hebden’s Wheat is a Belgian style, naturally hazy Wheat Beer. Fruity and refreshing and light in colour with hints of coriander and lemon.
Liverpool Organic, Liverpool Beir Head 4.2 Best Bitter Sharp, hoppy foretaste with complex spice and crisp malt tones, building to a rich, mellow aftertaste.
24 Carat Gold 4.2 Blonde Bitter Generously hopped with a bitterness that builds steadily towards a lingering finish with spicy orangey notes.
Magic Rock, Huddersfield Ringmaster 3.9 Blonde Bitter Pale in colour but unlike other pale ales lacking nothing in the flavour stakes. We use plenty of US hops to give the beer a floral/grassy aroma and lip smacking citrus flavours which combine with a defined malty character to make a magically moreish and quenching beer.
Rapture 4.6 Best Bitter 5 types of malt and 6 types of hops make for a truly elating experience. Uplifting aromas of grapefruit and pine, combine with pithy orange and tropically citrus flavours which are balanced against a deeply rich and malty body. Mallinson’s, Huddersfield Summit 3.9 Blonde Bitter This is a single hopped beer using only Summit hops from USA. It is pale gold and the aroma has a slight spiciness with light tangerine tones. It has a medium bitter taste and a lovely full bodied finish.
Hallertau Blanc 4.2 Blonde Bitter Pale gold with a lovely hop aroma that hints at orange and grape, The bitterness is gentle yet fruity and there is a lovely fresh bitter finish.
Oakham, Camb’shire Green Devil 6 IPA Kicks off with an amazing hop harvest aroma bursting with passion fruit, pineapple and mango before developing a refreshing citrus bitterness and a crisp, dry aftertaste.
Scarlet Macaw 4.4 Best Bitter Tart gooseberry and soft peach on the nose. Gooseberries and fruit to taste, before an intense bitterness that’s as sharp as a macaw’s screech!
Milton Camb’shire Othello 5.7 Speciality Powerful, dark and moreish (Moorish), Othello is a full flavoured stout, brewed with finest Colombian coffee and tweaked with a hint of orange.
Dionysus 4.1 Best Bitter Straw coloured bitter, powerfully hoppy, with a fine citrus finish.
Stancill, Barnsley Barnsley Bitter 3.8 Best Bitter A traditional copper coloured bitter.
No.7 4.3 Blonde Bitter A traditional English pale ale. Well hopped, refreshing and satisfying with bags of malt characteristics. Creamy head…all the way down the glass
Titanic, Stoke on Trent, Staffs Iceberg 4.1 Blonde Bitter A combination of Maris Otter pale malt and fine wheat malt, give this refreshing beer real zest. Add refreshing Yakima Galena and Cascade hops and what you get is a fantastic wheat beer that will hole any passing thirst.
Plum Porter 4.9 Speciality This beer is dark strong and well rounded; the richness of such a rotund beer is brought to an even keel by the late addition of Goldings hops and natural plum flavouring.
Thornbridge, Bakewell, Derbyshire Jaipur IPA 5.9 IPA The immediate impression of this India Pale Ale is soft and smooth but this builds around the mouth to a crescendo of massive hoppiness accentuated by honey.
Brother Rabbit 3.9 Dark Bitter Gold in colour with tropical fruits and orange sherbet dominating the aroma. Medium body with a clean firm bitterness to balance – a great thirst quenching beer.
Wharfedale, Ilkley Wharfedale Blonde 3.9 Blonde Bitter A straw coloured blonde zesty session ale. English malts combine with a blend of New Zealand and American hops to create lingering citrus/grapefruit flavours and a fresh satisfying bitter finish.
Wharfedale Black 3.7 Dark Mild A rich dark mild ale. A blend of eight malted grains combine to create a smooth well balanced beer. Subtle hints of chocolate, coffee and liquorice come together to create a characterful lasting flavour.
Wishbone, Keighley Blonde 3.6 Blonde Bitter A European hopped easy drinking blonde beer made to quench the thirst, light in colour, full in flavour with a good balance of bitterness and sweet malt.

Bingley Jamestown 5.5% American Pale Ale With 3 American hops this APA has slightly spicy and distinct piny notes, and an aroma of grapefruit with a hint of apricot.
Bingley Warrior 5.8% Ruby A dark malty bitter with an aroma of black cherry and a hint of burnt liquorice and spice.

Goose Eye Festival Special 4.6 Amber An easy drinking amber beer, that is light on the palate with a fruity finish.
Goose Eye Spring Wells 3.6 Pale A light ale absolutely bursting with flavour, packed to the brim with New Zealand hops.
Goose Eye Blackmoor Mild 3.9 Dark Mild A very dark beer. Extremely palatable and a good all round session beer. Plenty of flavour with a lingering taste.

Premium Drinks Peach Perry 7.3 Fruit Perry A fruity summer combination of ripe cider apples and plump, juicy peaches. Light orange in appearance with a sweet peachy aroma and taste.
Premium Drinks Rasberry Cider 7.3 Fruit Cider A medium/sweet mixture of apples and raspberries. Possessing a pale pink hue, a prominent raspberry aroma, and a tantalising tart finish to the palate.
Premium Drinks Blackcurrent Cider 7.3 Fruit Cider An Autumnal blend of crisp cider apples and juicy blackcurrants bursting with flavour. Resulting in a

medium/sweet fruity cider with an unusual purple appearance.

Whiteheads Strawberry Cider 4.0 Fruit Cider This starts life as a light cider of about 3.0% alcohol. We add fresh strawberries to the fermented drink allowing them to infuse for a couple of weeks before lightly pressing the rest of their juice out. The colour from the strawberries gives this special cider a light pink hue with a medium to sweet taste.
Sandford Orchards Ginger Cider 4.0 Fruit Cider Whole root ginger crushed through our cider mill and married with a light and fresh scrumpy.


Snail’s Bank First Bat Mixed Fruit Cider 4.0 Fruit Cider Crisp apple cider blended with strawberry, raspberry and blackcurrants. Perfect over ice on a freshly mowed lawn.
Sheppy’s Blackberry and Elderflower Cider 4.0 Fruit Cider Quality is absolutely central to all of the ciders that we make and our high juice content ciders form the base of our 3 flavoured ciders. The newest of our flavoured ciders uses a light dessert apple blend and has the aromatic quality of elderflowers with the fruitiness of fresh ripe blackberries. The combination captures perfectly the essence of Somerset sunny hedgerows.
Biddendens Strong Dry Kentish Cider 8.0 Dry A strong, still cider produced using a blend of Kentish culinary and dessert apples. Very appley taste with a fragrant aroma. Very light in colour and extremely drinkable for its strength.
Heck’s Port wine of Glastonbury Cider 6.5 Medium True to its name, this cider has its origins in orchards below Glastonbury Tor. Easy on the palate, this is a true session cider with light effervescence and lemony tones

Our Traditional is rich in the aromas of ripe apples with a soft mouthfeel from the low acidity, and a refreshing fruity finish. A real thirst quencher anytime, and a particular favourite on those rare sunny days.
